Hey there, readers!
In a previous post, we explored how long or short(!), a newsletter article should be to keep your audience's attention. In that post, we also looked at ways to catch your reader's eye and stop them from skimming past your article. One of those ways was employing effective headlines.
I wanted to explore that more deeply in this week's post.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when you are writing headlines that stop your reader and get them to part with a little of their much-valued time and attention.
1. Be clear and concise in conveying the article's central message to the target audience, avoiding technical jargon or confusing language.
2. Use industry-specific terminology and relevant keywords to grab the attention of readers familiar with the subject matter.
3. Emphasize the benefits of the article, highlighting the value it brings to the organization or its people.
4. Include calls to action encouraging readers to engage with the content, such as "Learn More" or "Get Involved."
5. Use a tone that aligns with the company's culture and values while resonating with the intended audience.
6. Consider the format and design of the publication to ensure that the headline complements the overall aesthetic and tone.
Your audience will have specific demographics and interests. Make the most of the analytics embedded in your newsletter platform to track which of your articles are doing well and which are lying unread and unloved. Compare the headlines of these articles and see what headlines work best. Rinse and repeat!
Good luck!
